Chris Buck

Chris Buck is a photographer and director based in New York and Los Angeles. His portraits have won placement in the prestigious annual American Photography over forty times, and he was the first recipient of the Arnold Newman Portrait Prize. In advertising, he’s shot campaigns for some of the world’s most recognizable brands including Coca-Cola, Google, Microsoft, Kia, and TD Bank; and directed motion spots for Oscar Mayer, SAP and Viagra. A Cannes Lions Grand Prix was awarded to his controversial Diesel campaign that invited their customers to “Be Stupid.” Lürzer's Archive said of his book Uneasy: Portraits 1986-2016, "If you’re into portrait photography at all, this book is a must for you as Chris Buck is a genius at creating photos that stick in people’s minds. He is a past master at coming up with inventive, offbeat ideas, and his subjects respond perfectly.” In March of 2021 Gentlemen’s Club: Partners Of Exotic Dancers was released. The New Yorker said, “Buck's portraits embody the clashing realities of the strip club: posed but never unnatural, the pictures are, by turns, playful, tender, brazen, and inscrutable."
