Women in Design

Sarah Tranum is a social innovation designer and strategist. Sarah founded TrickleUp Design, a design firm pushing the boundaries of design and business to create transformative products and services that are socially, environmentally, culturally, and financially sustainable. She is an Assistant Professor, Social Innovation Design, in the Faculty of Design at OCAD University. Sarah has created and taught several courses across the Faculty of Design that focus on guiding students as they imagine and develop innovative and sustainable models for using design as a tool for social change. She received a Master of Design in Designed Objects degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and her undergraduate degree in Policy Analysis and Management from Cornell University.

Emily Tu is a designer and art director who specializes in the creation of publications, identities, packaging and websites. Prior to establishing her independent practice, Emily co-founded and ran the award-winning design studio Tung from 2014 to 2018. With over a decade of experience, she has collaborated with a variety of clients in arts & culture, design, education and retail & hospitality, including the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Applied Arts, the University of Toronto, and Mjölk.

Vanessa Wyse is the founder and Creative Director of Studio Wyse. Originally from Sydney Australia, Vanessa is a magazine junkie and mum to two teenagers. Studio Wyse creates smart and engaging, content-first mags and editorial solutions for media brands and institutions including The University of Toronto, Chatelaine, enRoute, and The Globe and Mail. Previous to launching Studio Wyse, Vanessa was the founding Creative Director of the city weekly The Grid. Fun fact: she can’t wink with one eye, neither can Rihanna.

Lyranda is a creative director, bestselling author of the book “Reasons Mommy Drinks”, and public speaker. She currently hosts the podcast “Lead by Womenwill” which aims to address gender disparity in the workforce and champion young women in their careers. She’s a working mom with two young boys and a dog at home, and her hobbies include all of the coffee.
