He’s won a Cannes Grand Prix, been named top Creative Director in Canada numerous times, been included in the Top Ten list globally by The Gunn Report not once but twice, led both Cossette and BBDO to be named Canadian ‘Agency of the Year’, and now as Partner & Chief Creative Officer of Broken Heart Love Affair, he and his partners have built one of Canada’s most fab agencies in only a few short years. If that’s not enough, he also happens to be extremely hilarious and entertaining. Carlos is one of the most successful Creative Directors in Canada. Under his leadership, Cossette was named Canadian “Agency of the Year” by Strategy Magazine in 2016, 2017 and 2018. He brought the same honour to BBDO in 2011. In both cases, firsts for the agencies. He has also been awarded the prestigious Grand Prix award at the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity. As an Art Director, he was twice included in the Top Ten list globally by The Gunn Report. In 2018 and 2019, he was the number one Creative Director in Canada on the Strategy Magazine Creative Report Card, making that 3 times for his career. Most recently, he was awarded at Cannes for his contribution to Kruger Products’ ‘Unapologetically Human’ campaign. Carlos was named one of the most Influential Hispanics in Canada by the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and previously sat on the Board for The Advertising & Design Club of Canada. He has worked as an Art Director and Creative Director in Toronto and New York for McCann, Saatchi and Downtown Partners DDB. In 2015, Carlos brought his skills to Cossette where he ran a variety of blue-chip accounts, including McDonald’s, General Mills, SickKids, Canopy Growth, Canada Goose and Public Mobile. These days, Carlos is fulfilling the personal dream of running his own shop with some of the best in the business. The partners founded Broken Heart Love Affair and Lifelong Crush in 2020 with a vision for creative purity and a passion for the work. The agency has since won Small Agency of the Year in 2022 and was awarded the 2021 Silver Newcomer Agency of the Year by AdAge. On top of this, BHLA and LLC continue to add to their long list of high-profile award wins year over year.
